Pay is weekly via physical check or direct deposit.
We offer a competitive commission with opportunities of advancement.
Commission is based on the type of truck/trailer combination that is being driven/pulled, and is at 24%-30%.
Jump Transport is a zero-tolerance company in regard to the use of drugs and/or alcohol. Further, our policy is no alcohol consumption within 12 hours prior to reporting for duty. Drivers are required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen before beginning employment, and subject to random drug testing thereafter.

Position Description
A brief description of our driving positions is to safely transport and deliver freight with company owned and assigned equipment. The primary pieces of equipment operated are a semi-truck or one ton and RGN, flatbed, or dovetail trailers. Oversized and heavy equipment are frequent hauls. Drivers are required to load and unload cargo without damage to load, company equipment, or public and private properties.
Job Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To:

Attach and detach trailers from the power unit itself.

Load and unload trailers, either individually or with assistance of dock workers, with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment. Also, operation of freight on and off trailer, (i.e. dozers, excavators, loaders, forklifts or other heavy equipment) is required.

Perform frequent acts of climbing, lifting 40+ pounds, pulling, and pushing of freight and securements.

Secure freight to trailer by tying down, chaining, booming, blocking, and supporting cargo.

Inspect truck and trailer for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after trips. Complete a written report on the condition of this equipment at the end of each trip. Submit a written report on the condition of the equipment every 30 days.

Drive truck to destination in accordance with Federal regulations, normally in periods of up to 10 (ten) driving followed by an off-duty period of at least 8 (eight) consecutive hours. (See Company Handbook for further information.)

Plan and schedule trips by reading and understanding maps and directions given by dispatch or shipper, calculating distance, weights, hours, and measures of loads and destinations.

Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, off-road, and tight loading docks or yards.

Ensure that all shipping documentation (i.e. waybills, bills of lading, shipping orders, or manifest) required to move the shipment is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.

Check shipping papers to determine the nature of the load and to check for the presence of hazardous materials. If hazardous material is found, contact dispatch immediately.

Maintain records for compliance with State and Federal regulations.

Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and Local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

Promptly file written report of any accident or incident involving driver or company equipment to company office after initial telephone or personal report.
-
Promptly report any traffic delays due to breakdown, weather conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pickup or delivery of freight to dispatch or the company office.
Eligibility Requirements as applicable;:
-
An applicant must be eligible to legally work in the United States, and verify eligibility through presentation of a social security card, INS card, birth certificate, or other acceptable identification;
-
must qualify under part 391 of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and possess a current valid Class A commercial driver’s license;
-
must have at least 3 (three) years’ experience driving the same type of equipment as operated by this company;
-
must be able to perform simple mathematical calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, read maps, road signs, etc;
-
must have working knowledge of D.O.T. regulations governing safe driving, hours-of-service, inspection, and maintenance of equipment operated;
-
must be available for around-the-clock trips (log permitting) to accommodate freight movements and must be available to be away from home for extended periods of time;
-
must meet or exceed the physical and medical standards of the U.S.D.O.T. as set forth in the FMCSR, Part 391.41, and possess a current commercial driver’s medical card;
-
must be able to sit and remain alert while driving for a period of up to 10 (ten) hours with only minimal breaks;
-
must be able to shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals
-
must be able to perform frequent squatting, crouching, and bending to handle and position freight;
-
must be able to enter and exit the vehicle cab 8 to 10 times or more, daily;
-
must have ability to read, write, and speak English, and understand the English language.

An applicant is not eligible for consideration if he/she is convicted of any of the following while operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV):
-
Driving or operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol or refusing such testing as required by law enforcement officials
-
Leaving the scene of an accident
-
Reckless driving
-
Driving while license has been suspended or revoked
-
Excessive speed violations (20 mph over posted speed limit)
-
More than three moving violations
-
More than one preventable collision
-
A serious preventable collision
-
Excessive equipment violations
-
A felony involving a commercial motor vehicle
-
Using a motor vehicle to commit a felony involving manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a drug
-
Causing a fatality through the negligent operation of a CMV
-
More than 4 (four) points on an MVR in a 3 (three) year period
Accountabilities:
-
Safe and legal operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
-
Safe and timely delivery of freight from origin to destination.
-
Accurate count of products on and off trailer.
-
Proper loading and unloading of freight, to assure safety and minimal risk of damage to cargo, equipment, and danger to persons.
-
Proper handling and accurate completion of all necessary paperwork related to truck operations and freight movements.
-
Professional representation of the company, and the trucking industry, through responsible driving and contact with company customers and motoring public, city, state, and D.O.T. officials.

Professional appearance is required while representing Jump Transport.
Work Environment:
-
Drivers may be subject to irregular work schedules, temperature and weather extremes, long trips, short notice for assignment of a trip, tight delivery schedules, delays en-route and other stresses and fatigue related to the operation of a large commercial motor vehicle on crowded streets and highways.

Drivers typically spend 70-80% of on duty time in the truck. While driving, operators are exposed to noise and vibration levels which may be higher than those typically experienced in passenger cars.
